The story of Sjöbergs
Sjöbergs has a long history that began in 1922 when Axel Sjöberg founded a carpentry workshop in his home in Sweden.
Originally, he produced furniture and wood products, including body parts for Ford. In 1932, Axel began producing workbenches, laying the foundation for the company today. Production expanded when he handed over the business to his children in 1947.
Today, Sjöbergs is a global leader in workbenches, focusing on quality and sustainability. All production takes place in Sweden, with 55% exported.
Professional workbenches for ambitious DIY enthusiasts
If you're looking for a professional workbench, you can't go past Sjöbergs. It's not just DIY enthusiasts who appreciate the outstanding quality. Master workshops, vocational schools, and other educational institutions also rely on Sjöbergs workbenches. With proper care, a Sjöbergs workbench will last a lifetime – and is often so robust that it can eventually be passed on to the next generation. This means you're not just investing in tools, but in true craftsmanship that will last.

Workbench accessories – what options are available?
A Sjöbergs workbench is already a versatile tool, but with the right workbench accessories, you can get even more out of your workshop. Additional cabinet modules, collets, and clamps open up further options for securely clamping even tricky workpieces. Practical base frames or cabinet modules allow you to individually adjust the working height of your workbench or create storage space for your tools. With special accessory plates – such as the Clamping Platform from Sjöbergs – the work surface can be extended and, thanks to standardized holes (approximately 19 mm), additional clamping tools can be integrated.

Soon, it'll be in your workshop, ready for your first workpiece. You clamp the wood, start the plane, and immediately feel: Nothing moves here, every movement is perfect. This is exactly how a workbench should function – precise, stable, and reliable.

DIE GESCHICHTE VON SJÖBERGS
Seit Generationen steht Sjöbergs für Leidenschaft und Innovationsgeist.
Was einst als kleine Werkstatt begann,
ist heute ein international geschätztes Unternehmen.

A family business is created
In 1922, Axel Sjöberg founded a small carpentry workshop in the Småland town of Björneberg. Initially, he made furniture and various wooden products in his home. As demand grew, Axel built his own workshop on the farm and specialized in custom-made furniture and even wooden body parts for automobile manufacturers such as Ford. These early years laid the foundation for the craftsmanship and innovation that characterize Sjöbergs to this day.

The path to the workbench
During World War II, the company's focus shifted to the production of wood gas generators. However, as early as 1932, Axel began manufacturing professional workbenches, initially for industry and trades. This decision would set a new standard. After the war, in 1947, Axel's children took over the company and renamed it AB Bröderna Sjöberg. They modernized production and expanded the product range to include kitchen furniture, church furnishings, and staircases. Nevertheless, the workbenches remained the heart of the company.

Quality from Sweden conquers the world
In the 1950s, Sjöbergs received increasing orders from schools wanting to equip their workshops with high-quality wooden workbenches. In 1959, Bo-E, the youngest of the Sjöberg brothers, ventured across the Atlantic. Carrying a miniature workbench, he traveled to the USA and presented the product to potential customers. Success was immediate: At a design exhibition in Sacramento, the workbench was awarded a gold medal for good design. This marked the beginning of exports to the USA and laid the foundation for Sjöbergs' international success.

Workbenches made in Sweden
Today, over 100 years after its founding, the Sjöbergs name stands worldwide for quality and durability in the field of planers and workbenches. The company remains true to its roots by combining traditional craftsmanship with modern manufacturing techniques. Sjöbergs products are treasured companions that last for generations.

Sjöberg offers workbenches for all areas – for beginners, small workshops, and even professional tradespeople. The product range is structured so that you can find the right model for your needs, application, and budget.
For the most demanding applications, the Elite series workbenches for professional use are particularly interesting. They are characterized by maximum stability and versatile clamping options.
At the same time, Sjöberg also offers workbenches for hobbyists, such as the Scandi Plus or Duo series. These models are more compact, more attractively priced, and perfect for ambitious DIY enthusiasts, schools, or smaller workshops.
We will be happy to help you choose the right model!
You can rest assured that your Sjöbergs workbench is a product that stands for durability and quality. Sjöbergs offers a generous 10-year warranty on all workbenches (including base cabinets), with the exception of two specific models (items 33394 and 33374), which carry a 2-year warranty.
Accessories and workbenches with electronic components are also covered for 2 years . The warranty covers both material and manufacturing defects—everything beyond your control.
The only important thing is that the workbench is used under the recommended conditions (relative humidity 40–55%) – then it will remain a faithful companion for many years.
While traditional workbenches provide a solid foundation for many craft activities (screwdriving, assembling, etc.), a planer's bench is designed specifically for woodworking. It combines the features of a workbench with integrated clamping devices and a solid wooden worktop that easily accommodates even powerful planing movements.
So if you work with wood regularly – be it planing, mortising, sawing or gluing – a workbench is the more suitable option for a workbench.
